Offline Time - New Activity Categorization

Hi all,
I’m not thrilled with the change in the way RescueTime categorizes offline activity now. In the olden days, you used to be able to add another activity (if separate from the buttons) and categorize whether it was Very Productive, Productive, Neutral, etc. Now that option (for Add an Activity) is gone, leaving only a textbox to define the activity.

This causes problems. For example, I will add “Presentation” as an “Add an Activity”. I previously defined Presentation as Very Productive (or Focused Work), with a category of Design/Comp-Presentation. Now, it recognizes presentations as “Design/Comp-Presentation” but it categorizes it as “Other Work”.

So the change results in multiple new steps for me:

  1. Input “Add an Activity”.
  2. Go to Reports, click on Apps & Websites.
  3. Find the activity.
  4. Change it to Focused Work.

This is similar to all my “Add an Activity” activities. Why remove the option to define whether this is Focused Work, Other Work, Neutral, etc?

Interesting - I found another bug with this. When “Other Work” is entered, and it recognizes that the activity has previously been categorized, it’s able to categorize it again correctly. But the classification of “Focused Work”, “Other Work”, etc. isn’t correct. I then have to go back and select the category again, and it classifies the work properly. Weird!

Hey Eric,

Thanks for your feedback on this… I will discuss with the team see if we can make this a better experience for you.
