Matching Activities to Timeline Projects

I like the new timeline and have a monthly project for each client. When I get to the end of the month I can report on a client’s project, but it just gives a total amount of time. Is there a way to itemise that - using the data in “Activities” or just from the timeline itself? I’d like to report on all the timeblocks I’ve added to the project. e.g. "I did 33 hours, here’s the blocks by day. "

In the timeline itself when you click on a block and “edit” you can see all the activities that make up that time, but there’s no where to see this in Reports?

Or perhaps in the Focus dashboard Sign in to RescueTime view it could show where you’ve allocated timeblocks/filter by the project, so you can see the activities within that time?

Is there any plan to make Timeline and activities speak to each other, so you can see the projects, and what activities (and their date/time) you allocated to those projects. Or even just in the reporting?

You can filter by “Minute - all” in the table report to see all the sessions for a set time period (e.g. last month).

I agree that it’s frustrating not to be able to click through to detail from the table. The calendar view is a bit better, but only shows a week at a time.

Hi Sara,

As you may have read in one of our recent updates, we’re currently working through a complete overhaul of the web app. Suggestions like this are especially helpful as we think about how to better surface and connect the data we collect.

I’d love to better understand what you’re looking for. Is the primary goal to see which apps and websites were used during the time allocated to a specific project? Or are you envisioning something more like the time-entry modal you mentioned, where you could review each individual time block assigned to a project, along with the underlying activity?

One consideration with the latter is that there can be a lot of underlying activity data, which can quickly become overwhelming and make a report less useful. We’re trying to find the right balance between providing useful detail and keeping things easy to understand.

I’d be interested to hear how you’d ideally use this information when reporting back to your clients.

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback!
