Rescuetime Not Syncing?

No time logged since Nov 1. (No activity Nov 1 & 2, but I have been quite active today)
Rescuetime is definitely running. (per Mac ActivityMonitor)
I am logged-in to the right account.
Rescuetime starts automatically on reboot.
The icon appears in my menu bar.
I have logged out, logged-in, reinstalled the app, etc.

According to the dashboard, my last sync was 2 days ago.

I’m having this issue as well, but on RescueTime Classic for Windows and Android. Last sync was November 1 about 18:45 EDT (22:45 UTC)

The taskbar icon shows an exclamation point error and the same status of “unknown error, contact admin”

Also having the same issue. No time since the 1st. I reinstalled the apps on my Windows and Mac, neither one is tracking time. Both icons show error icons.

There is still no time being tracked is there any update on a potential fix?

Same issue here. No tracking since noon of Friday 11/1. Focus sessions did not log time either. I can still add offline time though.

Same issue here. Red dot present on icon on macos

Exact same issue here, using windows.

I will say I think this means that the status page is wrong, which is an independent issue

I’ve seen this for other services that use this style of status page, such as Vercel (a web host) which has gone down several times during my use despite always showing green

Agreed. The system status shows 100% uptime with no incidents the past several days. Some functions are working—it correctly showed a meeting I had scheduled today—but didn’t record the activity. Or any other focus work done today. I added an offline entry, that worked correctly.

This is also reported in the bugs thread here: Got bugs? Leave them here - #154 by t11

Hopefully, the system is still logging time… just not syncing…

That status page is close to useless. I think entries are manual there not automatic.

I have successfully been able to get my agent to reconnect after troubleshooting for a few hours by updating my DNS servers on my router. My DNS was setup to use Malware blocking 1.1.1.2 and 1.0.0.2 over TLS. After digging api.rescuetime.com I decided my issue was DNS and made the change on my router to 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 over TLS and bingo the agent reports a success after restarting the agent.

I have also been able to confirm that it stops working if I revert the change. Good hunting.

Hi Ray,

We did have a disruption in data processing over the weekend. Our developers have fixed the issue and you should see your data begin to show up in the next hour (if not already). No data is lost, just delayed. Sincere apologies for the trouble.

I see the message from @jpmyers indicating the problem resolution is in-process…just adding a +1 that my data hasn’t been processing this morning. Log shows a lot of this sort of thing:

20241104T090549:33:[ui::event_handler] Received UI_EVENT_SEND_JS with null javaScript value.
20241104T090549:1:[ui:event_handler] Caught std::exception: Bad optional access

Among other obvious problems like 502 and 502 HTTP response codes.

These things happen… Dashboards are looking much better (The spice is flowing)… All good.
Thanks!

Hey Matt,

Would you mind checking again and let me know if you are caught up? Just want to be sure you aren’t experiencing something unrelated.

Thanks!

JP

Looks good to me now, good to be back
