Any progress about status of bugs / new features? From looks of it , there is not much going on. I am sure that this isn’t really the case but with lack of transparency and slow release cycle with minimal / non existent release notes it doesn’t look good.
Hi all - just wanted to see if anyone else is having trouble with the latest update for the Windows desktop app. I got the “update available” prompt but it won’t install (because I can’t uninstall the previous version due to setup files that can’t be removed). When I load the app currently I get a blank page (although I know my time is still being tracked because I can see it on the browser when I log in).
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Hi @jane.logan. There was a recent Windows update that may have caused this. Our developers are looking into the root cause. An uninstall/reinstall of the RescueTime app/reboot of your computer should fix the issue. You should be able to remove all previous RescueTime files from your computer. We recommend you remove all files before doing a fresh reinstall. I believe I found your account so I’ll be reaching out to your personally as well.
Hi @peter, we generally reach out directly to users regarding bug fixes. As for feature releases we announce them here and via email. You’re right there should be more transparency. We will work to prioritize this. Appreciate all your feedback here!
Please restart RescueTime and see if that goes away. That was recently fixed.
I’ve seen this happen with some other subscribers and an uninstall/reinstall RescueTime app/restart your computer should fix it.
I think I found your account. I’ll reach out to you directly for more details
You can ;). I’ll show you how via email.
It’s not broken and the two finger scrolling is intentional for now.
I understand where you’re coming from here. Blocking is currently not available on the mobile, however whenever you leave the RescueTime mobile app during a Focus Session you are prompted with a pop up to re-focus.
Thanks for this feedback! Our product is geared toward work currently but based on your feedback and many others we’re starting to see how this can evolve to support so much more than that.
Hi, i’ve started a trial and ran into an error. The contact page on the website is a dead end it links to the same page: https://newrescuetime.helpscoutdocs.com/
So I’ll leave my question here.
I’m on Mac OS Big Sur, 11.7.something, the app should work for 10.15 and above however it won’t run for me.
Running the executable with terminal leaves me with the following message:
"
dyld: Symbol not found: __ZNKSt3__115basic_stringbufIcNS_11char_traitsIcEENS_9allocatorIcEEE3strEv
Referenced from: /Applications/RescueTime.app/Contents/MacOS/…/Frameworks/libsentry.dylib (which was built for Mac OS X 13.0)
Expected in: /usr/lib/libc++.1.dylib
Is there a way to set up Rescue Time to recognize certain websites as work sites and certain websites as distractions? I can figure out a way to have it recognize the web app I’m using as a focus site, but don’t know if there is a way for it to know the actual websites I’m on while using a particular browser. Also, is there a better browser to use when using RescueTime?
I also am not sure how to link the RescueTime tracker on my computer with the tracker on my phone. Is there a way to do that?
Hi @kim, are you currently using a Mac. If so then can you enable accessibility permissions on your Mac? We share details on how to do this here.
Could you clarify this question - “I also am not sure how to link the RescueTime tracker on my computer with the tracker on my phone. Is there a way to do that?” The current RescueTime app does not have time tracking. This will change in the next iterations.
Thank you! I am using a Mac, so I will get that set up. And you answered my question for the second question. I didn’t realize the app didn’t have time tracking on it.
Hi @thijs! Thanks for your patience. This issue should now be fixed. Our developers found a compatibility issue with macOS 10.15 and macOS 11. Could you please uninstall and then reinstall the RescueTime app? Also, please restart your computer.
Please let me know if you still run into issues with the Assistant. Please reach out to help@rescuetime.com so we can extend your trial.
Apologies if others have mentioned this already (I’m new here).
When a focus session finishes, I cannot choose the same ‘how do you feel’ icon as I did at the beginning. I need to choose a different one to move the screen forward. This issue also happens if I choose the same outcome (I think the question is ‘did you complete your task’). If I chose no in the previous focus round I can’t choose it this round.
The RT assistant app on MacOs somehow has a sound effect that shows in the menu bar but it doesn’t produce anything and it just clutters this subsection. I have sounds deactivated
I updated everything to “new RescueTime” about two weeks ago, and now my computer will not stop making notification sounds throughout the day from RescueTime. I have UN-checked the “Sounds On” item in the RescueTime pop-up menu, and I have turned sounds OFF in the Windows notifications settings for RescueTime. I don’t want to turn notifications off completely because I want the banner pop-up, but I do NOT want any sounds. Right now, literally my only option is to mute the RescueTime application using the Windows Sound Mixer, which is ridiculous. I’ve turned notification sounds off in two different places, how on earth is the application still overriding that? Ironic, since intrusive sounds are the number one cause of distractions for me…
