I’ve been a “passive” user of RT for a few years, so I haven’t gotten much into the weeds on some features. I’m also a Beeminder user. What I’d like to do is to set up a beeminder goal to spend x minutes on writing, primarily outside of normal work hours. How can I do this? I usually write in Scrivener and OmniOutliner. Can I create a project that can track this? The project feature seems a bit undocumented. Update: I just watched a video on projects and they seem inappropriate for what I’m doing here.
Hi - I think I have a solution for you on this.
- Goto this link Manage Categories
- Click Manage Categories sub-menu
- Under one of the categories like Business, click Add a new sub-category - name it something you can uniquely identify (RescueTime already has a Writing category so I would avoid that)
- Click the Categorize Activities sub-menu
- You can then edit the categories of the apps you use for this writing and select the new sub-category that you made in step 3
- In Beeminder, you can create a goal and select that specific sub-category
I don’t think Beeminder is setup to handle work hours filtering but this solution should get you most of the way there.
Let me know how it goes!
