Got bugs? Leave them here

  • When Enabling 2FA, I cannot login at all anylonger on my Android (Pixel 6, latest)
  • When Clicking the “Billing/Accounting”-link in the Android App, it sends me to a link to rescuetime with a typo, it misses a semicolon : : so that won’t work.

So, I just come home from work at 16:30. I have set up an automatic work session at 18:00 so I can do my hobby.

Can you tell me why RescueTime decides now is a good time for a focus session instead of checking the actual time and not just continuing “where it left off” when I turned off my computer yesterday?

It is really the only reason I have RescueTime. For self-forced sessions at the designated time.

Talking about desktop.
In mobile even tho I have RescueTime and I am signed it, it just ignores all focus sessions.

A couple thoughts from my side—

  • Websites not being logged
    • This has been an off/on issue for years, but one small thing RT can do is to show the user a message in the UI when websites are not getting logged at all. I have both the desktop app and the extension, and 0 websites are being logged (not even Firefox is logged). I’ve had websites logging before, but it frequently breaks. Considering the cost of months of lost website data, it would be nice if RT proactively notified the user when logging stops working.
  • Timesheets
    • When you save a block, it shows a “toast” notification at the top. This notification blocks the “Finalize today’s timeline” button from being clickable. So, every time you save a timesheet block and want to finalize the day, you have to way 5-10 seconds for the green notification to disappear, before you can click the button. It would be nice if the notification position was adjusted to not block important buttons. Or just adding an “X” on the notification to close it early, would be a nice quality of life improvement.

In the screenshot below, there’s invisible padding around the green notification, that makes the lock button unclickable.

The 2FA one has already been mentioned by others, but yeah +1 on fixing that. Right now, I’m disabling 2FA, then logging in on mobile, then re-enabling 2FA.

I can only recall that one Timesheets feedback for now, but there’s definitely several shortcomings I noticed with timesheets, I’ll add those when I remember.

For example, one is that the /timesheets page sometimes won’t display the datepicker, which means you don’t know what day you’re viewing and you cannot change the day you’re viewing. But, I don’t know how to reproduce that yet.

Hello,

The chart on the upper right does not display, not working on either firefox or librewolf

Timesheet bug -

One minor inconvenience with timesheets is that if you “Finalize” one day, and then the day after you try to add time at the very start of the day: 12:00 AM, RescueTime won’t let you.

For whatever reason, 12:00 AM counts as the day prior, and because the previous day was locked/finalized, you have to go back, unlock that day, then come back to add a timeblock at 12:00 AM.

This also applies to any time blocks that start the day previous and extend into the next day. I feel like that’s more expected. It’s really the 12:00 AM block not being usable that can be confounding as a user.

An odd thing I’ve noticed the last couple of weeks I set a goals for couple of hours work at the weekends previously when hitting these it would trigger a focus session for 15 mins. The last couple of times this is setting a 12 hour focus session! Is this something I can change somewhere or is it a bug with recent updates?

I’m on Macbook running Sequoia 15.6

Hi,

I’m running RescueTime on Windows (version below in the customer support info). The Assistant that pops up after I’ve been inactive for five minutes is not persistent. As soon as I move my mouse, it closes.

This seems to happen when the ‘focus’ changes e.g. if I move my pointer between windows, but maybe one time in 100 it does persist and I can enter my offline time.

This makes it impossible to keep an accurate track of my time and is badly affecting the usefulness of the app.

Is this normal behaviour for Windows or is my system being weird?

Thanks for any help you can provide! I tried emailing help@rescuetime.com for a month but no reply.

Hi!

I’m having an issue with my subscription.

On the past 19th of September, I received the usual subscription notice. For my part, everything looked normal.

However, on October 20th I received an email saying you canceled my account. I didn’t ask about this cancellation, nor did I make any related request.

I tried to contact customer service to request some explanation, but until today I don’t have any answer.

The most unexpected thing happened today: I received a voucher from my bank for the yearly subscription.

And reviewing my account, I still have the basic tier account.

How could I solve this issue?

Best.

Can anyone else not see the date picker at the top - it seems to hidden behind the blue banner at the top - any tips/tricks on this one - only seems to be a problem today.

Got an “unknown error, contact admin” when using either the legacy PC app and the “RescueTime X” version. None of my computer activities have synced for the last 24 hours. I’m still on Windows 10.

Edit: not working on Android, last sync was Nov 7 at 3 PM EST, which coincides with the “Last sync” time shown on my account.

The app has not been successfully tracking for a couple of days very annoying. I didn’t realise it wasn’t tracking yesterday whilst working, so I had to try and remember time I spent to add it as offline time. What has caused this issue again has there been an update?

This is Windows 11 and MacOS 15.7.2 nothing has tracked since the evening of 7th

On Windows 11 and also haven’t had anything sync since Nov. 7th.

Is there a separate thread for this issue?

The same here on Windows 11: no sync since 07.11.2025, just

20251110T080441:1:[pusher:shove] Error Response: unknown error, contact admin

Same issue here. Same/similar behaviour as user reporting above

Now the sync has worked again. But it would be really amazing if there is hope for the working hours of today …

And the amazing change really happened. The recorded times since Friday are visible now!

Must admit the ‘winget’ thing kinda annoys me a little too…

C:\Windows\System32>winget update --include-unknown
Name Id Version Available Source
------------------------------------------------------------------
RescueTime 3.2.11.5 RescueTime.DesktopApp Unknown 3.2.11.5 winget
1 upgrades available.

Would be good to get that sorted!

When selecting categories for the uncategorized activities the dropdown stops where the container stops. Even this list should not even be scrollable because there are only 3 activities and a lot of whitespace left.
